5: The First Meet

Flashback...

Four years back...

"After a long, mere bhai," Both men shook their hands and greeted each other before hugging each other. "Truly, Rudra! We couldn't even meet at the reunion," the other man spoke, making Rudra chuckle. "I'm glad we didn't, Yash. I heard that the party got worse," Yash laughed.

"For you, every party goes worse if it doesn't have your friend circle," he replied which made his friend scoff, "Reunions are only for friend groups," Yash nodded and ordered a meal for them. "So, what's going on in life, Mr. Entrepreneur?" Rudra asked.

"Mr. Businessman, I have nothing to do except my work. Currently, I'm working on two projects," Yash said while sipping down his apple juice, "Tu bata, gadhe, tere kya haal chaal hai?"

"Aur teri bandi...Oops! I mean your beautiful lady, how is she?" Rudra chuckled as his friend glared at him, "Ha, kamine, keep it going," When Yash said that, Rudra laughed, staring at his friend's face.

"You're asking me...What about you, Rudra?" Yash smirked, "Koi mili ya fir abhi tak tune koi jhande nahi gaade," When the statement was made, Rudra couldn't help but give Yash a side-eye. The way he looked at his friend seemed to suggest that Yash knew what answer Rudra was going to give. Rudra's facial expressions were so apparent that it was impossible to ignore them.

"Tujhe kya lagta hai?" Rudra asked, raising his right eyebrow, sipping on his juice. "Tu aisi sadi huyi shakal banata hai ke koi ladki paas aayegi hi nahi," Yash laughed but hissed when Rudra smacked his head, "Mereko koi shauq nahi hai desperate hone ka," Rudra made a weird face.

"Ha kamine, you're a great person jiski love story mahaan aur bemisaal hogi," Yash scoffed in annoyance. "Not those eyes, saale, teri konsi great love story hai," Again, a smack landed on Yash's head.

"You..." Yash gritted his teeth irritatingly. "Chhed le, kamine...chhed le," he smirked, which confused Rudra. "What's with this smirk, dude?" Rudra asked suspiciously. Yash's expressions were not good and that smirk was clearly saying that he was up to something.

"Kya chal raha hai tere dimaag mein, Yash?" He adopted a pensive posture, placing his face in his hand with one eyebrow arched and his head at a slight angle. His index finger was nestled beneath his lips, while the rest of his fingers rested just below his chin. As Yash kept his smirk, his friend's curiosity boosted his confidence. He leaned back, left hand resting on the chair's top rail.

"Yahi ki," Yash made a thinking face before resting his elbows on the table, "Dekh, tujhse khud ladki pategi nahi toh why don't I ask your mom to find a girl for you?" He wiggled his eyebrows while looking at his friend, "I mean that's the only way, you can get yourself a girl," Yash laughed.

"I see," Rudra let out a deep breath, conveying his sense of resignation. He then mimicked his friend's stance, propping his forearms on the table and interlocking his fingers before resuming his narrative, "Agar aisi baat hai then I also should ask your mom only for finding a girl for you...No actually, I should ask Shanaya di...Yeah she will be a great help," He made a subtle gesture towards Yash, closing one eye while curling his lips into a mischievous grin and playfully pushing his tongue against his inner cheek.

Yash growled in annoyance, witnessing himself being helpless at Rudra's comeback. He always won in their bickerings. "You-" before he could continue, Rudra's phone rang which made both of them look at his phone on the table. As the screen showed one of Rudra's employees' number, Yash immediately glared at his friend.

"You better not leave for any meeting and all damn work, dude," He looked at his friend with a done face. He didn't wish to get their moment ruined. He and Rudra were meeting after a long time and he wanted to enjoy this moment at least they would have some memories until their next meet, which surely wasn't anytime soon.

"Let me attend the call, buddy. I'll be back," Rudra's fingers wrapped around his phone, his lips curling into a gentle smile as he glanced at his friend. He sensed a subtle implication embedded in his friend's words, a meaning that was not overtly expressed., "Don't worry, I won't leave," he chuckled, "Itni asaani se nahi bachega tu," Yash chuckled heartily and concurred with Rudra's statement, then observed as Rudra departed with his mobile device.

It was his personal assistant, Avinash, who had called him to inform about the upcoming meetings of Rudra. "Avinash, for next 2 days, I am not available so kindly postpone them." Avinash hummed at Rudra's statement before saying, "Sure, sir." The call ended and Rudra made his way back inside the restaurant.

As he made his way towards his designated seat, his gaze fell upon Yash, who was deeply engaged in a phone conversation, seemingly oblivious to his presence. His attention was completely fixed on his companion, rendering him oblivious to the woman who was hastily approaching him. Consequently, the two of them unexpectedly collided into one another.

Rudra instinctively reached out and firmly grasped her hand, preventing her from losing her balance and falling. But as he turned to face her, his foot slipped on the slick surface, causing him to tumble forward and land on top of her. Fortunately, amid the chaos, his hand found its way under her head, cushioning her fall and keeping her from harm.

When their eyes met, everything around them seemed to fade away. His heart thundered in his chest, while his breaths came in slow, measured puffs. His one hand was placed under her head and the other near her right ear, just above her shoulder for support. Despite the curious eyes of other patrons, he remained unmoved, and they with him. It was as though the world around them had vanished, leaving only the two of them in that moment.

Her free strands of hair were on her face, kissing her skin while her lips were a little parted, causing her breaths to hit his nape which was throbbing and threatening his sanity. "Haaye! Mera dil! She is hell of me. Her eyes, her lips, this thin free hair strand kissing her cheeks...I feel my heart beating tremendously..." He could hear his mind speaking. "Her eyes are so deep. Those black orbs gazing at me are giving me goosebumps. What is happening to me?"

He felt a sense of apprehension that his innermost thoughts might be revealed to her, as her eyes possessed a unique ability to detect his dishonesty. Their tranquil moment was abruptly disrupted by the intrusive sound of his mobile phone ringing. He averted his gaze towards the device, which had tumbled down beside her left side. It was Yash. As she approached, he quickly stepped to the side, feeling a sudden tension between them, and rose to his feet.

"I am really sorry, miss," he extended his hand for help which that woman gladly accepted and stood up too, "No, it is alright Mr, I was in such a hurry that I couldn't notice you," Rudra found himself captivated by the elegant and gracious words that flowed effortlessly from her lips. The mellifluous tone of her voice had a calming effect on him, easing the tension in his heart and slowing the frenzied pace of his racing heartbeat. He was completely entranced by her every word, and felt himself being drawn towards her like a moth to a flame.

"Thanks for your help," the lady spoke again which broke his focus but before he could say anything, she had walked away. He sighed. For the first time, he felt like a stupid. "God, Rudra, you can't even talk to a lady nicely," he muttered dramatically until his gaze fell down on a shiny thing. "What's that?" He wondered and bent down to take a better vision. The thing was none other than her jhumka.

"Miss, your earring-" he grasped the earring gently and stood up so that he could inform her but she was gone. He stared at the jhumka for a while as a smile crept over his lips.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Indigo welcomes you to the city of Varanasi. The local time is 12:45 PM IST. For your safety and the safety of those around you, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened and keep the aisle clear until we are parked at the gate."

"Huh?" This announcement surprised him for a second until he realized that his flight was going to land. He smiled as he recalled their first meeting. "I really wish to meet you soon."
