3: Shanaya di's Wedding

"Hey, Yash," As the phone rang, a resonant voice answered with great enthusiasm, eager to engage with the person on the other end. "Hey, Rudra, what's up?" The individual who provided a reply happened to be none other than Yash Agnihotri, a close companion of Rudra Kulkarni ever since their college days.

"The things are the same, man. Nothing new, what about you?" He replied while keeping the book away, wishing to continue it later. "As usual, nothing new but I'm going to finish every single damn work under me in this week. I'll be on leave the whole next month," The tone of his friend's voice was brimming with enthusiasm and delight as he recounted the details of his upcoming departure.

"You sound so cheerful, anything special next month?" The reply he gave to his friend's statement for a one-month leave seemed to be marked by a sense of bewilderment. "Yeah, and that's why I've phoned you," Yash's voice held the excitement all along.

"You better stop confusing me," Rudra's curiosity and impatience were on the rise, evident from his restless demeanour. Yash chuckled before proceeding to address Rudra's sense of urgency, "Shanaya di is going to get married next month."

"Oh, wait, what?" Rudra was astonished, "Shanaya di is going to get married? Next Month? How come you didn't let me know this before, you dumbhead?" Yash was taken aback by the depth of emotion displayed by his friend Rudra towards his sister's nuptials. Although Yash was aware of Rudra's close bond with Shanaya, he was unprepared for the intensity of his reaction.

"Bro, calm down," He tried to calm his friend down, "Let me just tell you everything before you just smash my head with your questions," Rudra chuckled at his friend's words. "Di had a boyfriend like for 2-3 years? She told Mumma and Papa about it and they thought to give her choice an examination and a chance. So, after all that stuff, they liked the guy and that's how her wedding is happening. The whole month is filled with things damn."

"The whole month? What is going to happen there damn?" Rudra's heart brimmed with curiosity and excitement at the prospect of attending the wedding. The anticipation of witnessing the union of two souls and the celebration of their love was enough to make him giddy with delight.

"I really don't have any idea about that. All I know is, it's my sister's wedding and I'm going to be in charge of every single thing," He sighed with great deep exhale, "Shit, the next month is going to be freaking amazing yet tiring for me," He added that made his friend let out a great laugh.

"By the way, Mr Kulkarni ji, you're invited," He again added to his sentence, making Rudra scoff sarcastically, "I was, even without your invitation, stupid," He laughed while Yash rolled his eyes irritatingly even though he knew Rudra can't see him, "Yeah, yeah, I know how close you and Di are, stop teasing me. By the way, you didn't know her wedding information though before I told you so, I won."

"Whatever," this time, Rudra rolled his eyes, "By the way, where do you live now? Still in Delhi?" He asked his friend, recalling the time 4 years back when he visited him there. "Yeah, but for your kind information, shaadi Banaras se ho rahi hai," He replied.

"Banaras?" Rudra asked out of curiosity. None of Yash's family belonged from there. "Yep, Di wanted her wedding rituals to be done there," Yash added and Rudra hummed in response. "It's nice," Rudra replied with a calming tone which indicated Yash that his friend was smiling and that indication made him smile too.

"So, when should I be there?"

"On the very first day," Yash laughed, knowing his friend's reaction which was so done with him. "It would be good if you come in the first week of the month or else you know her," He later added which made Rudra sigh in relief, "I do know and I'll be there on time, perhaps before it. Achha, I'll go now."

"Yeah, sure, I'll talk to you later," Yash responded and both ended the call.
